It was a warm friday night and i go out everynight at like 9 or 10 to take a run with my dog.. so we can both get some excersize in. Well..I dont live in a neighboorhood i live infront of one so i just cut through my backyard to the neighboorhood but when i cut through my yard it goes into a coldsake until i walk out and i was stretching in that area before i left to go run so after i was done we just started off as a walk then started to jog so i would have enough energy just to speed and ironically i never do that but just a feeling that i should so as i got up to a stop sign i started to jog. A car started to drive around the neighboorhood not thinking anything bad just thinking its lost.as i crossed the street and i was about to turn to finsih up my run i looked behind me for some reason and a man was there walking and i was like hmm...it must be someone in the nieghboorhood....just takking a walk too..(Cause alot of people do that in taht neighboorhood) but i just picked up the pace a little bit and so did he so i just totally freaked out. and just stared to run.He ran after me and i got so scared i didnt know what to do so i just ran like i never ran before and i finally got to a place where i could hide behind bushes so he couldnt see me and right where i hide he stood there looking at where i went....i was there for about 5 mmintues and that same car that was driving around came and stoppped and that guy got into the car and mumbled "I dont know where she went we lost her" and i honestly thought i was going to die thank god i had my energy saved up for that run. and now i refuse to go out at night without some kind of weapon

City: private

i was being dropped back home from babysitting by the kids mum. it was about 12ish at night. we were coming down the street slowely, there was a loud noise so we looked up and saw 3 people with bandanas tied over their mouths on a ride on mower. as we turned into my driveway they stoped and jumped off, one of the guys was holding a knife and another was pulling something out of his jacket. we turned in and just sat in the car. the noise started up again and we jumped out and went inside. the next day i got a call from the lady i had babysat for, she said when she had driven out of my street to go home the same guys had ran towards her car tried to get in. we have never been so scared.

City: gilbert

one night, my brother and i heard really horrible crying and moaning across our street. we were really freaked out and so many horrible ideas were in my head. i told my mom so she called the police and they went over to investigate. they came back 5 minutes later and told us she said she was home alone and \"sick\" . i didn\'t believe that. i\'ve been sick plenty of times and i don\'t think people a street away can hear me from throwing up. plus right after i heard a car door slam and a gate close... i\'m glad we moved out of there

City: wenatchee

One time i lived in Seattle and my room had two double french doors to go out on to a large deck and my bed layed right next to it and one winter i had my friend spend the night and i was laying in bed and i looked out my door with no curtains and i swear i saw something shiny and big like a boot or knife not sure anyway and then i screamed and she asked me what i said look look stuttering and my parents ran in asking what i told them they said it was probably a possum that climbed up to the deck and i said no it was shiny and ya they went out and in the snow it was clear but i swear it was someone or i dont know but it was freakin scary i screamed soo loud never again that happened or i never saw it again.

City: Private

I was at a friend's house, and neither of us could sleep. During the day we had walked to an abandoned church, sitting on the roof and chatting in the sun. Well, for some reason we stayed up until midnight, determined to go to the church at night. Instead of taking the shortcut we took before, we decided taking a longer route. It was dark and the streets were deserted, except for a car that would drive by every once in a while. It was exciting at first, since it was dark and unknown, and neither of us had a flashlight. We had been walking for some time, and the turn to the church was coming up. Ahead there was a traffic light, flashing but only slowing a few cars down every once in a while. There was a large box, hidden in the shadows, and we got closer. She was laughing about something when I saw it. A shadowed figure stepped from behind the box and ran straight for us! I was alarmed, and grabbed my friends arm, screaming to her, "Run! He's coming after us!" I assumed it was a male because of the size, but it could have been a woman as well. Both of us turned and ran as far as we could, gasping and nearly in tears. We both turned, hearing dogs barking from yards we had passed. We were terrified to know he was still chasing us! We both took off again, crying until we reached the shadowed edge of her street. My heart was beating so hard in my chest, I thought it would rip from it! It was so scary, and I'm too scared to walk outside in the dark now.
